Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa is the Vice president of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Professor of

Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has completed his education from the faculty of Medicine, Cairo Univesity, graduating with an MD. Dr. Mustafa’s key fields of research include Portal hypertension, Hepato-Pancreato-Billary diseases, Esophageal diseases, Colon diseases, Peptic ulcer and Hepatic diseases, particularly focusing on the Pathogenesis and endoscopic management and causes of these diseases. He is also involved in liver transplantation and role of the hepatology team pre and post transplantation. He is councilor in the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Board, where is previously participated as Vice President (2008 – 2010), and President Elect for the Pan Arab Liver Transplantation Society. He is also Head of Liver Transplantation Unit in Wady El Nile Hospital. Dr Mostafa has published several scientific researches in the field of Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and liver transplantation in various major scientific journals either on the national or international levels and was the author of a total of 80 researches published.

In addition, he has participated and presented over 100 papers at major conferences and Liver endoscopy workshops both regionally and globally. He has participated in the establishment of Endoscopy Units and the training of staff in many national hospitals such as National Cancer Institute, El Haram Hospital, Nasser Institute Hospital, and Egypt Air Hospital. Furthermore, he has contributed to the establishment of many Gastroenterology and Hepatology Units in Africa and the Middle East.
